The World Pharmacists Day was celebrated on September 25 at Goa College of Pharmacy, Panaji, says a press note issued here.

The chief guest for the function was Health Secretary IAS Arun Kumar Mishra. Executive director of Virgo lab Goa Dr Pravin Kullar and director, FDA Goa Jyoti Sardesai were the guests of honour.

Principal of Goa College of Pharmacy and IPA state president Dr Gopal Krishna Rao and Prasad Tamba, honorary secretary of Indian Pharmaceutical Association Goa State branch were present.

Dr Rao welcomed the dignitaries and the guests and he deliberated on the role of pharmacist and the importance of the day for which it is being celebrated worldwide.

Chief guest for the function Arun Kumar Mishra emphasised on the importance of pharmacist and the various challenges faced by the pharmacist.

Dr Khullar spoke about the various challenges faced during the COVID-19 pandemic. He elaborated on how they worked during the pandemicand how the production and supply chain was activated inspite of the prevaling curbs.

Director of FDA Jyoti sardesai spoke on various challenges faced by the pharmacist in discharging the duties.

Dr Khullar and Sardesai were felicitated for their exemplary role during the COVID-19 pandemic and for the services rendered towards the profession.

Outgoing registrar of Goa State Pharmacy Council Mangala Kadam and the incumbent registrar of the Goa State Pharmacy Council Dr Rajashree Gude were also felicitated

Prizes were distributed to the meritorious students of the college. Tamba proposed vote of thanks.
